The progressive haters are at it again. We see them on the attack within our childrens’ schools, our colleges and universities, and even our churches. There is a never ending attack on American culture, and specifically on Christianity. Left wing progressives attack the United States at the root of our beliefs, and scoff at the memorials of our revered heros and founders.
Hate is the real reason that the forty-foot tall cross memorial to WWI fallen is in danger of being brought down by a ruling of our Supreme Court. The case will be discussed, today, February 27, 2019.
Outside the little town of Bladensburg, Maryland is the forty-foot tall World War I memorial in the shape of a cross, called the Peace Cross. The cross was erected on July 13, 1925 on public property by the American Legion to memorialize the forty-nine men of Prince George’s County who gave their lives in the service of their country.
Enter the American Humanist Association and their Supreme Court suit to bring the cross down. On the front page of their website we read one reason for opposing the Peace Cross. “Most punditry surrounding the Bladensburg cross is a testament to how militarism has overtaken the American mindset.”
The humanists are not only using the separation clause of the Constitution, but they are saying that our nation is so militarily oriented that we not only allow, but encourage religious symbols in military memorials. This is of course, garbage.
The First Amendment separation clause reads, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…“. A reading of this clause reveals that the government cannot establish a state religion as seen in England and many European countries. Erecting a memorial is not establishing a religion.
Their reason for opposing the monument is, pure and simple, they hate Christianity. They don’t hate Islam, Mormons, Hindus, or Bhudists. They hate Christians and everything they stand for.
As stated in their feature article, “Yet many are ready to throw constitutional principles aside merely because the Bladensburg case calls into question actions that were taken to honor the military.” That’s quite a dodge. Humanists hate the military, and they hate everything Christian or American. I don’t even think humanists like humans!
It will be interesting to see how our new Supreme Court handles this case. Even though the arguments will be heard tomorrow, it will probably take a while for a ruling to be announced.
What do you think will happen?
Update: I got this news bit from the web, today. Observers feel that the cross will be left alone. It is not clear to me when the official ruling will come out.
