Supreme Court Double Talk

Government Wins – Country Loses

We should have known. The long awaited Supreme Court came in today with a ruling, which in my opinion, is a bit on the contradictory side.

First of all, the so-called Affordable Health Care Act  is not constitutional as a mandate, which it is. Secondly, it is constitutional if it is a tax, which it is. Wow! It is two, two, two laws in one. Apparently the government can pick and choose its own definition, and win any case it wants by simply pretending.

The whole thing is double talk.  Apparently, the US Congress can pass laws that tax our pants off, but they cannot pass a law telling us what to buy. This still does not change the fact that we will be forced to buy the insurance whether the government calls it a tax or not.

So, want started out as a horse suddenly takes on a unicorn appearance. The law is all things to all people, constitutional or not.

The big lesson is to trust no branch of government.

They are all out to screw it up.

  1. I’m pissed and apparently just a little confused. Obamacare was a Senate bill. I was under the impression that all tax bils must originat in the House. Isn’t that why Obama insisted that it wasn’t a tax?

  2. Good catch, Jim. I don’t know how that is supposed to work. Our task is very clear, now. Get rid of those thieves.

  3. The more I learn about this the more angry I become. The word tax does not appear on any of the over 2000 pages of the Affordable Care Act. This was judicial activism pure and simple. The Founders designed a system of checks and balances for a reason. America has been betrayed!

  4. I am still confused. Did the court say that the penalty for NOT buying the insurance was a tax, or that the whole thing is a tax? Either way, the bill was sold to the American people with lies, even more than previously documented. It is the case of one of the biggest bamboozles in history, And, yes, we have been betrayed. Thanks.

  5. Obama lied about this not being a tax hype and then we learn it is the highest tax increase in history. Our only option now is to vote him out in November, hope that Romney and Boehner will keep their word and repeal the whole darn thing.

I am still furious and I am sure many Americans are not going to sit this one out this coming election. People are going to take a stand and give the power back to the people.

  6. I was reading elsewhere that Alito said it’s not the job of the court to protect people from their political choices, well that is true in a way, but it is his job to prevent from the president and congress from overreaching isn’t it.

If it isn’t that either, well then what is their job.

  7. I think the Supremes just energized the Tea Party. It is multiple levels of lies, and we don’t have to put up with this stuff.

  8. It was lies on so many levels. The Dems just don’t understand what real people can do, and now we have to vote the jerks out.
